United Strays of America is a daring novel. It takes place in a single reckless year in college which doesn’t feel like a year at all. June takes us along as he explores Atlanta via Emberton University ( aka Emory University ), goes to Dinhead Country jail ( aka Dekalb County ), gets kicked out of Emberton for financial aid confusion, moves to ST. Thomas and works at a basketball camp, and returns to college. It’s a novel about a time. June is no hero and is often unaware of why he’s doing what he’s doing. All June knows for sure is if he doesn’t take the role of unofficial historian, no one else will. For whatever reason June knows for sure, it’ll be as if they never existed. So he wrote his life story and titled it United Strays of America.
